CARACAS (Sputnik) – The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, denounced that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has done nothing to protect the rights of Palestinians against Israeli aggression. “It seems that the International Court of Justice does not see it, and if one day those organizations have been left naked, that they are at the service of imperial powers, it is at this historical moment in which the International Court of Justice has done nothing to protect the right to life of the Palestinian people,” Maduro expressed on April 3. The president condemned that this court of justice turned its gaze away from the massacre of the Palestinians. In this regard, Maduro demanded an end to “Israel’s genocide against the people of Palestine and that the International Court of Justice rule and stop the genocide.”

“How much pain is there for Palestine or is it that you are not hurt by the children in Palestine who are killed by the hundreds every day? or is it that no one saw how seven humanitarian missionaries from the West were murdered? And Netanyahu declares from Tel Aviv, he says: we killed them, he declares that he killed them, that it was not intentional, and are the other killings intentional?”

On October 7, 2023, the Palestinian movement Hamas led an attack against more than 20 Israeli communities, causing about 1,200 deaths [mostly Israeli soldiers, many killed in the Israeli counterattack], nearly 5,500 injuries, and capturing 253 hostages, of whom about 100 were released weeks later in prisoner exchanges.
In retaliation, Israel declared war on Hamas and began a bombing campaign on the Gaza Strip, imposing a total blockade on the Palestinian enclave and cutting off supplies of water, food, medicine, electricity and fuel.
On October 27, Israel launched a large-scale ground incursion into the Strip. According to the Ministry of Health of the Palestinian enclave, the number of Palestinians killed by Israel rose to 32,975, in addition to 75,577 wounded. On March 25, the United Nations Security Council demanded, with 14 votes in favor and the United States abstaining, an immediate ceasefire to the conflict in the Palestinian enclave during the holy month of Ramadan, as well as the Immediate release of all hostages.
