Through his social media accounts, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro , referred to the most recent report from the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC ), in which Venezuela is identified as one of the main drivers of economic growth in the region.
In this regard, the head of state explained that the international organization estimates that Venezuelan economic growth will exceed 6%, although he stated that real indicators point to an expansion of closer to 9% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In this context, Maduro highlighted the recovery of commercial activity and the active presence of the population in the streets as a reflection of economic dynamism.
The president emphasized that Venezuela is the only country in Latin America and the Caribbean where trade has grown by 34% during the last year, which he attributed to the strengthening of national productive forces and the boost to the domestic market.
He also highlighted that the country currently has strategic food reserves for four months , a situation he described as unprecedented in the nation’s history, given that the products are of Venezuelan origin. “We have never before had reserves with domestic production,” he emphasized.
Maduro pointed out that these advances are the result of the efforts of the working people and a productive model geared towards satisfying the needs of the population, who are now celebrating the December holidays in a climate of greater stability. “We are a blessed people, a people who move forward with hope,” he said.
