TeleSur: President Maduro Addresses the World Over the U.S. Military Threat “The heirs of the old colonialisms and supremacisms hold power and still view our nations with contempt and arrogance…A global awareness is rising that will not allow, under any circumstances, the imposition of a new type of supremacism or colonialism, either in Our America or in the rest of the world…We fought against the sanctions and the blockade and defeated them… Today, Venezuela’s economic system is robust. We also fought and defeated the political blockade.” Maduro reaffirmed Venezuela’s position as a bastion of anti-colonialism and resistance, and highlighted that eight warships are targeting his country, carrying 1,200 missiles and accompanied by a nuclear submarine.
Former Director of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime: The Great Lie of Branding Venezuela a ‘Narco-State’ The cooperation of the Venezuelan government in the fight against drug trafficking was one of the best in South America; it can only be compared to the impeccable record of Cuba. The data published in the 2025 World Drug Report, by the organization that I had the honor of leading, tells a story that directly contradicts the one spread by the Trump administration. The report dismantles, piece by piece, the narrative built around the “Cártel de los Soles” (Cartel of the Suns) an entity as mythical as the Loch Ness Monster. Venezuela, according to the UN, has established itself as free from the cultivation of coca leaf, marijuana, and similar products, as well as free from the presence of international drug cartels.
Only 5% of Colombian drugs pass through Venezuela. In 2018, while 210 tons of cocaine transited through Venezuela, Colombia produced or traded 2,370 tons—10 times more—and Guatemala 1,400 tons; Guatemala is a drug corridor seven times more important than the supposedly fearsome Venezuelan “narco-state.” Colombia produces more than 70% of the world’s cocaine. Peru and Bolivia account for the majority of the remaining 30%.
The European Drug Report 2025, based on real data and not geopolitical illusions, does not mention Venezuela even once as a route for international drug trafficking. This is the difference between an honest analysis and a false and insulting narrative. The United States needs to justify its oil policies, so it produces propaganda disguised as intelligence reports.
Maria Paez Victor: The Venezuelan and World Response to US War Threats In Venezuela, there were several responses to this military threat: Venezuela quickly deployed its comprehensive defense shield, which is formidable. The country has the most powerful armed forces in Latin America, the only one capable of high-intensity conflict. Its military technology is cutting edge, Russian built, with a sophisticated, potent, air defense system having short, medium, and long-range capacity. The Venezuelan armed forces took up defensive positions immediately for the world to see.
There are 4.5 million people in the militias in Venezuela, which form part of the armed forces. These civilians have been trained, prepared, and armed. The government opened registration for anyone who wished to join the militias in defending their homeland, and the response of many thousands throughout the nation was overwhelming. The people, therefore, are armed, and are in close cooperation with its military.
There is a political unity never seen before. Venezuelans of every stripe are incensed at the US affront. In a country where the opposition rarely, if at all, praises the government, its diverse members have rallied around the government and unified in defense of the nation. President Maduro’s political situation has been strengthened in an extraordinary manner.
Russia, China, Mexico, Cuba, Honduras, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Belarus, Iran, Brazil, and Turkey are some of the nations that have stated their support for Venezuela. Three significant supports are worth mentioning: One, Mexican president Claudia Sheinbaum has categorically denounced the illegality of the US military presence and threat, saying: “We are never going to support the intervention by a foreign government in a sovereign country.” Two, the BRICS nations, the new geopolitical organization that has more than half the world in its axis, has backed Venezuela. Three, Colombian president Gustavo Petro has announced that, “if Venezuela is attacked, the armed forces of Colombia will unite with the Venezuelan army to fight the invaders.” This unity of armies has not happened since the time of Simón Bolívar in the 19th Century, when the Venezuelan and Colombian armies were one, and together they liberated the continent of the Spanish empire. These were historic and profound words of President Petro. The combined armies would be formidable indeed against a US invasion.
Caitlin Johnstone: They’re Lying About Venezuela While Moving War Machinery Into Place The US empire lies about all its acts of war. Trump tried to orchestrate a regime change in Venezuela the last time he was in office, and he’s doing it again for the exact same reasons. It’s an oil-rich nation that refuses to bow to the dictates of Washington, and all the worst warmongers in the imperial swamp are eagerly pushing to absorb it into the folds of the empire. That’s all we are looking at here, and anyone who says otherwise is lying. And it’s always so stupid, because it’s just the same rehashed lies over and over again. The empire takes whatever actions will help it to dominate our planet and its resources to a greater extent than it already does, and then it makes up justifications for those actions.
Arnold August on the Venezuelan response to US War Threats
World Beyond War: No War, No Overthrow, No Coup, No Sanctions on Venezuela We call on the U.S. government to abide by the rule of law and the will of the U.S. public, and to leave behind its long history of interventions, overthrows, and coups, which has included efforts to overturn the government of Venezuela many times, including for much of the past decade. The U.S. government is now openly offering $50 million for the arrest of the president of Venezuela, under a false narrative, even as it invites the prime minister of Israel to speak in Washington, despite an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court.
Nicaraguan Co-President Daniel Ortega Speech at ALBA Summit These are the policies… of the Imperialist Powers which are arming the Israeli rulers, who are bent on destroying the Palestinian People, the People of Gaza. And they say it with great calm. But there are no major reactions in the world, no major reactions on the part of the so-called democratic countries, the European democratic powers, much less the US rulers who feed with armaments the strategy to dominate that entire region.
How is it possible that the whole of Latin America, a Territory of Peace, has not reacted unanimously and strongly, to the threat launched by the Neros in Washington, offering a reward of millions of dollars for the life of the Legitimate President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela? Of course, the Bolivarian People have reacted, of course, the Peoples of ALBA have reacted, the Peoples most committed to the defense of the Dignity and Sovereignty of our countries; but there has been no forceful response from the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, there has not, and that is cowardice, that is submission, that is surrender. Today they are acting against Venezuela but tomorrow they will try doing so with other countries which today appear submissive to their policies, to the policies of imperialism.
So many attempts against Cuba, so many attempts against Venezuela, so many attempts against Nicaragua… But they could not prevail, nor will they! And Cuba is the strongest, most steadfast Heroic Example that we have, so we have to give it all our Solidarity, all our support, so that we can overcome this moment of challenge.
Cuban President Díaz-Canel Bermúdez Speech at ALBA Summit Imperialism, in the deployment of its hegemonic and aggressive offensive, shows clearly that it has no intention of stopping before the limits imposed by International Law, the United Nations Charter, and decades of regional and universal resolutions and declarations against coercion, threats, interference in the internal affairs of other States, and intervention.
The announced prerogative that the United States Government intends to grant its law enforcement agencies to act against criminal organizations inside the borders of other States constitutes an unacceptable threat of aggression, a violation of the sovereignty of the nations in the region. The deployment of naval military units to the southern Caribbean is said to involve up to 4,000 personnel and is presented as a deterrent act, under the false and disproportionate argument of combating drug cartels. This is being said and promoted by the most narco state in the world, which is the United States.
What does the United States want? It wants to divide us with its policies of pressure and blockades; it aims to weaken us with hate speech and destabilizing actions. But our history—and let’s not forget this—is marked since the indigenous ancestors, and also by the best and most popular heritage from Africa, Asia, and Europe itself, by the resistance and victory of united peoples. It is from that accumulated knowledge and feelings left to us by our ancestors that we must also demand, in every platform, every space, every expression rejecting imperialism, that the genocide in Gaza stop.
Israeli Zionism and Yankee imperialism exchange roles in their criminal exercises. Cuba knows this well, because in its genocidal blockade the empire has always had the unwavering support of genocidal Israel.
