Peoples Dispatch: The Hague Group Meeting: 12 countries commit to arms embargo on Israel to stop its attacks on Gaza In the final document, the signatory countries commit to cease arms trade with Israel, review public contracts with that country, and seek accountability for war crimes. According to an official press release, the meeting laid out several measures to stop the genocide in Gaza [see article]. Although 30 countries attended the meeting, only 12 countries committed to immediately complying with the agreements outlined in the final declaration: Bolivia, Cuba, Colombia, Indonesia, Iraq, Libya, Malaysia, Namibia, Nicaragua, Oman, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and South Africa. The others expected to join them by September 20, 2025 – the date of the 80th UN General Assembly. President Petro stated: “We came to Bogotá to make history — and we did … Together, we have begun the work of ending the era of impunity. These measures show that we will no longer allow international law to be treated as optional, or Palestinian life as disposable.”
Orinoco Tribune: Venezuela Attends Ministerial Meeting in Bogotá on Genocide in Gaza A Venezuelan delegation arrived in Colombia, to participate in the meeting convened by Colombian President Petro. The meeting aims to coordinate international efforts to address the atrocities that Israel continues to commit against the Palestinian people. “The Bolivarian [Venezuelan] government expresses its full support for this meeting in the hope of achieving a unified and effective response that will halt the atrocities that Israel continues to commit against the Palestinian people.” The Venezuelan delegation stressed that this struggle is “essential for the future of humanity,” emphasizing the importance of collective action to address the conflict.
Venezuelanalysis: Venezuela Demands ‘Decolonization’ of International Justice in Hague Group Anti-Genocide Conference Venezuela fully backed the Emergency Conference of The Hague Group held in Bogotá on July 15-16 to take collective measures to stop Israel’s genocide. In a letter to the 30-nation ministerial meeting, President Maduro called the gathering “an essential moral and political response” to Israel’s “horrors” in Gaza. “This genocide did not begin 21 months ago; it dates back to 1948 with the Zionist occupation and forced expulsion of the Palestinian people from their land.” Maduro stated the US-backed assault on the Palestinian people has been sustained by the “constant flow of arms, money, surveillance technologies and diplomatic protection from the Western powers,” aiming to create a military enclave in West Asia.
Maduro criticized the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court for their “shameful complacency,” and have been “colonized by Western interests.” The Maduro government has long advocated for an arms and oil embargo against Israel. Venezuela does not export oil to Israel and has not had diplomatic relations with Tel Aviv since 2009.
TeleSur: President Maduro says Francesca Albanese’s Bravery To Be Remembered in the Future President Maduro praised the courage of Francesca Albanese, sanctioned by the US over her unwavering defense of the Palestinian people. She, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, explicitly accused Israel of war crimes and genocide in Gaza. Maduro said Albanese “produced a report with conclusive and reliable evidence of the genocide being committed against the Palestinian people…The criminals and the accomplices of the genocide will pay.” Maduro emphasized that human rights defenders like Albanese “will be remembered in the future for their bravery.” He repudiated the sanction against her, that it was imposed “for showing compelling and conclusive evidence of the genocide Netanyahu is carrying out against the Palestinian people,” an attempt by the US to hide the truth about what is happening.
CounterCurrents: Revolutionary Third World Leaders Praise China’s World Role Why China is not an imperialist superpower. The words of Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, Evo Morales, Daniel Ortega, Miguel Diaz-Canel, Luis Arce, Nicolas Maduro, Rafael Correa, and Ibrahim Traoré on the world role of China as an alternative to Western imperial domination, as a superpower that supports Third World development.“The Western powers regard China and Russia as the two major threats to their continued domination and seeks to disable both. China and Russia are drawn into a struggle, where their continued growth, if not existence, is at stake. The more they can neutralize the West’s goal, the more this is a victory for all the oppressed people of the world.”
Nicaragua Speech in Algeria in Forum on the Crimes of Colonialism (Johnny Hodgson, National Assembly representative)We “denounce the incalculable crimes of colonialism and imperialism—rapacious and extractive systems that have exposed and continue to expose entire civilizations to genocide, cultural extermination, slavery, abject poverty, and underdevelopment. The Nicaraguan people, lovers of freedom and defenders of peace, cannot turn a blind eye when speaking of the deep scars that colonialism has left on the soul of our nations. We speak of systematic genocides and decimated populations. We speak of cultural extermination where languages were banned, beliefs persecuted, and ancestral traditions ridiculed or eradicated—all in the name of a supposed “civilization” that, in reality, was barbarism disguised as progress. We also speak of slavery, that indelible stain on human history, which tore millions from their homes, chained them, and subjected them to lives of torture and servitude to fill the coffers of colonial empires.
“The Algerian people, under French colonial rule for more than 130 years, waged an unrelenting war of liberation, becoming an inexhaustible source of inspiration for revolutionary movements worldwide, particularly for the Sandinista National Liberation Front and the Nicaraguan people…The victory of the Algerian Revolution was not just that of a people against an empire; it was the affirmation that dignity and self-determination are non-negotiable, that the will of a free people is invincible. The brutality of French repression, which claimed more than 1.5 million innocent lives, fueled the flames of resistance…
The decolonization process, driven by the courage of Peoples like the Algerian, has been a monumental advance in human history. This blow to colonial empires marked the beginning of a new era—an era in which millions of human beings saw their national dignity restored…”
Al Mayadeen: Colombia President Petro urges leaving NATO partnership, cites their bombing complicity for Israel “We must leave NATO, there is no other way. And relations with Europe can no longer be built with those European governments that betray their own people and participate in bombings,” Petro said The Hague Group summit in Bogota. He emphasized that Colombia must avoid alliances involving militaries that “drop bombs on children…If they impose duties on us, no matter what, other nations will help us and buy our products.”
ALBA Condemns US Sanctions on Cuban President Diaz-Canel and other Cuban Authorities The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) condemns the infamous sanctions imposed this July 11, 2025, by the US against Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, as well as against the Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, Army Corps General Álvaro López Miera, and the Minister of Home Affairs, Lázaro Alberto Álvarez Casas. These illegal and immoral sanctions, which include migratory restrictions and persecution of family members, do not reflect an expression of force, but a portrayal of the profound fear that imperialism feels in the face of the living example of resistance, dignity and sovereignty represented by the Cuban Revolution. Washington insists on using pressure mechanisms that only reveal its historical defeat. The obsessive hostility against Cuba is part of an anachronistic policy that seeks to punish the Cuban people for deciding to be free and sovereign.
TeleSur: President Maduro Accuses United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, of acting as a political operative for Western powers Maduro said Türk remained silent regarding the abduction of 252 Venezuelan migrants in El Salvador and 31 children in the United States, despite Venezuela having informed the UN official about both incidents directly. “Volker Türk does nothing because he is an agent of the U.S. government and imperialist, colonialist Europe at the United Nations.” Maduro pointed out that Türk’s conduct is evidence that the United Nations has lost legitimacy in the eyes of the world’s oppressed peoples. “Who can appeal to you at the United Nations? Türk is there to protect the interests of the West and to remain silent in the face of genocides in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen.”
