Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel emphasized that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s (NATO) aggressive policies are the true cause of the conflict in Ukraine and highlighted Russia’s resistance to the military bloc’s expansionism.
During a joint broadcast of the Roundtable program on Cuban Television’s Cubavisión channel and the Russian network RT, the Cuban president emphasized that Russia has demonstrated its ability to resist and maintain political and economic stability, despite NATO interference and unilateral restrictive measures imposed by the West.
The Cuban leader emphasized how, despite current sanctions, Russia maintains “tremendous political and economic stability” and stressed that Cuba follows Russia’s example and does not renounce its convictions in the face of Western pressure, despite having lived for more than 65 years under the economic, commercial, and financial blockade of the U.S. government, which has intensified recently.
He also warned about the global rise of far-right forces and their potential consequences. “If these political expressions consolidate alliances, what future awaits the world? What language will resolve conflicts when hegemony prevails over the multilateralism we defend?” he asked.
The Cuban President mentioned the importance and need to learn from history and develop critical thinking in the face of Western media manipulation.
In that sense, he stated that “when there is no critical thinking, what they show you in a Netflix series, what they show you in a Hollywood movie, what comes in a book from the West, does not allow you to separate the lies, separate the slander, separate the manipulation . “
