Venezuela & ALBA News 9.6.2024: Defeated Coup Plotters turn to Sabotage; US steals Presidential Airplane; Despite US Blockade, the economy grows 10%

After Election defeat, Venezuelan right wing opposition turns to Sabotage to disrupt the lives of the people. An attack on the National Electrical System August 30 was aimed at destroying the Guri Dam that provides hydroelectric power to most of the country. Minister Diosdado Cabello confirmed the arrest of 11 people related to the blackout on August 30 and reiterated that the fascist opposition was responsible for the sabotage. On September 2 sabotage hit the public railway system with a fire in the electrical room of the Simón Bolívar Terminal railway station, Caracas. Sabotage caused a nationwide electrical blackout August 30, affecting 21 of Venezuela’s 23 states, including the capital city of Caracas. On August 27, a power outage was reported in several areas of Caracas and several other cities. A terrorist attack against the National Electric System on August 27, resulting in a failure in the electrical services of Caracas and several cities across the country.

Granma: Another imperialist attack against Venezuela: US Steals Presidential plane in an attempt to Escalate Conflict “Once again, the U.S. authorities, in a repeated criminal practice, which cannot be described as anything other than piracy, have illegally seized an aircraft that has been used by the President of the Republic, justifying themselves in the coercive measures that they unilaterally and illegally impose around the world.” This is how the Venezuelan Government denounced yesterday’s seizure of an airplane that was in the Dominican Republic and was taken to the state of Florida. This is the second case of illegal seizure of Venezuelan aircraft this year, following the theft of the Boeing 747 owned by Venezuelan company Emtrasur, with the support of the Argentine government on February 12.

Orinoco Tribune: President Maduro Reiterates Support For Honduras’ President Castro After Honduran Coup Attempt “On behalf of the people of Venezuela, of the Bolivarian and revolutionary government that I preside over and of all the popular forces of our country, we give all the support and solidarity to President Xiomara Castro and the popular forces of Honduras in the face of this attempted coup d’état. On August 28, Honduran President Xiomara Castro terminated the extradition treaty of Honduras with the US amid a diplomatic tension created by the US ambassador in Tegucigalpa, Laura Dogu, who had criticized a recent meeting of Honduran authorities with Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López, whom the US official branded as a “narco-trafficker.”

Maduro emphasized that President Castro not only leads Honduras but also presides over the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), a fundamental body for the unity and independence of the region. “No one should forget, at this time, that she is the president of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States. This coup d’état that she denounces is against the government of the progressive and revolutionary forces of Honduras and is also against CELAC.” “The objective of the gringos is to destroy CELAC, divide all of Latin America and the Caribbean, and leave us without the instrument that we have for independence and unity that is the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.”

Ultima Noticias: Samuel Moncada: US is a machine for intervening in other countries’ electoral systems Amid US interference in Venezuela’s elections, Moncada called it ironic that the United States says regarding the influence of foreign governments like Russia in its own electoral system “that it is illegal, that it is a violation of international law, of its national laws, when this is precisely what they do with the elections in Venezuela.” “The United States is a machine for intervening in the electoral systems of several countries,” it does so through open and covert operations, the latter being the most difficult to detect. He pointed out that the United States also seeks to create divisions in the middle ranks of the Venezuelan Armed Forces and the police.

Orinoco Tribune: President Maduro Announces Expected 10% GDP Growth for Venezuela in 2024 He also highlighted that public banks will provide one million loans from August 2024 to August 2025. Meanwhile, the private sector has committed to providing 300,000 loans to entrepreneurs and small businesses. During the month of August inflation in Venezuela was reported at 0.7%, one of the lowest in several decades in Venezuela.

Nicaragua Defends Sputnik and RT after US imposes Sanctions: Statement by Nicaragua Vice President Rosario Murillo The attacks that they [US] are now once again directing against the Media of the Russian Federation, with a large audience and international impact because they tell the True Truths, and the tragedies and misfortunes inflicted by the Imperialists of the Earth, reveal them once again as theorists and practitioners of persecution to silence the realities that they do not admit, and to impose their petty fallacies, insulting to everyone, everywhere in the World.

People Dispatch: Interview with Carlos Ron: How the Bolivarian Revolution is challenging US dominance in Latin America Chavismo has its roots in human rights defenders, in nationalist military that opposed imperialism, it has roots in the old left and the socialists and communists of the 20th century that also want a new vision. It also has its roots in social movements that are building the communes right now, movements for land reform, movements for housing projects, movements for technological advances. Even some faith based movements, some movements that defend a clean planet. This movement is not falling apart or dwindling, but actually growing. This election has been accompanied by a massive terror campaign on behalf of the opposition to intimidate social leaders, precisely members of the diverse aspects of this movement…What you’re seeing in Venezuela is not just a simple election, it is the battleground between progressive, revolutionary left forces that are trying to build social justice against fascism, that hyper-imperialism is trying to defend.

Mision Verdad: Venezuela’s coup plot shows central role of Social Media and Tech companies President Maduro said of  X owner Elon Musk, “He has violated the rules by inciting hatred, fascism, civil war, death, confrontation among Venezuelans, and has violated all Venezuelan laws.” Musk, who also owns the Starlink satellite broadband network, expressed his support for the far-right Venezuelan opposition and insulted the president, which is a sign of the determination of the new global elites to carry out regime change in Venezuela. This action was accompanied by other attempts implemented through various technological platforms such as Apple, Google, and Meta. Seven technology corporations are on the list of the top 10 companies in the world, ranked by market capitalization: Apple Inc., Microsoft Corporation, Amazon, Alphabet (Google), and Facebook (Meta) are joined by Nvidia Corporation, one of the largest developers of graphics processors and chipsets, and Tesla —also owned by Musk— which makes and sells both electric cars, batteries, and photovoltaic systems.

An iconic case was the intervention of the Cambridge Analytica company in the electoral events mentioned above and during the election campaigns in Italy, the Czech Republic, India, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Mexico, and Brazil. Evidence of the use of digital platforms for socio-political and even military control has become irrefutable.

The Burning Spear: A U.S. attack on Venezuela is an attack on Africa too! The African Socialist International condemns US rulers’ desperate attempt to steal the Venezuelan people’s right to self-determination. We condemn Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s recognition of Edmundo González as the “winner” of the recent elections organized by the Venezuela National Electoral Council. This attack on Venezuela is an attack on the African Nation, Palestine and all oppressed nations. Anti-colonial Venezuela, from Chávez to Maduro, is a key part of the global shift that is creating a multipolar world at the expense of US colonial hegemony. We are calling on everyone to support the legitimate government of Nicolás Maduro!

Orinoco Tribune: President Maduro to Meet With Presidents Lula, Petro, and AMLO The  meeting between the four leaders will be to establish positions on Venezuela, in light of the multiple attacks that the extreme right has perpetrated in recent days. After the presidential elections held on July 28, the authorities of Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil issued a joint statement in which they indicated that the only entity in charge of presenting the results of the elections is the National Electoral Council, in accordance with the Venezuelan constitution, though AMLO has maintained a much firmer position in defense of Venezuela’s rights.
