Nicaragua lidera en igualdad de género en América Latina
According to the latest edition of the Global Gender Gap Report of the World Economic Forum (WEF), in Latin America, Nicaragua is the country that has made notable progress in reducing the gender gap.
Globally, Nicaragua occupies the seventh position, surpassed by five countries in Europe and New Zealand.
The WEF report highlights that, in a ranking prepared with data from 146 countries, Costa Rica is in the fourteenth position, and Chile, in position 27. Mexico, Peru and Argentina, are located in positions 33, 34 and 36 respectively. , while Colombia occupies the 42nd position, Ecuador the 50th, Bolivia the 56th, Brazil the 57th and Panama the 58th.
The worst positions in the region are occupied by Uruguay (position 67), El Salvador (68), Paraguay (91) and Guatemala (118).
The report states that Latin America is the third region in the world with the greatest equality between men and women, since it is considered that it has closed its gender gap by 74.3%, only behind Europe (76.3%) and North America (75%).
WEF calculates that at the current rate of improvement in Latin America, higher than in Europe and North America, these countries would take 53 years to achieve full parity in political, economic, educational and health matters.
